The real Ibiza-lovers come to Ibiza off-season. Due to the wonderful Mediterranean climate, winters in Ibiza are mild. Cold days are almost non-existent. And even if the big clubs are closed, there is still plenty to do on the beautiful island. In addition to trendy smaller clubs, such as B12 and STK, restaurants and beach clubs remain open with a modified (cheaper) winter menu. And winter is also perfect for detoxes, massages, yoga retreats or just outdoor activities, such as beautiful hikes through the mountains.

    Ibiza temperature in winter

Ibiza has 300 days of sunshine a year, and of course there are occasional showers in October, but being an island, where there is always more wind than on the mainland, such a day of rain can suddenly turn super sunny. If you go out with your camera after such a rainstorm, you will see that everything is much fresher and greener.

Whereas the average temperature in Ibiza in July and August is between 20 and 30 degrees, on a sunny day in May, June, September and October it can sometimes reach 27 degrees! A cold day in those months is a day with a temperature of 12 or 13 degrees. You can take a lovely walk on the beach in your shorts and T-shirt, or even sunbathe in a sheltered spot. In the evening it is colder, of course, but people still eat outside on terraces, wearing long pants and sweaters.

And is everything now silent and desolate? No! The restaurants and bars that do stay open host extra fun events.

    las dalias wintermarkt

    Las Dalias winter market

The Las Dalias hippie market in San Carlos will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting Saturday, Nov. 3, with the Winter Market. And from December 14 to January 5, you can go there for the Mercadillo Navidad. This Christmas market is open Monday to Friday from 5 to 9 p.m., on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m. On Dec. 24 and 31, the market closes at 7 p.m., and on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, Las Dalias is closed. The market in San Juan runs through the winter on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with live music between noon and 1 p.m. The restaurants Los Otros and Gare du Nord capitalize on this with DJs and/or a nice lunch menu. Gare du Nord closes in mid-January before reopening in mid-March. And the Saturday flea market in San Jordi is especially fun in winter with delicious churros con chocolate and locals selling their trinkets for a few euros. Open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. after which many exhibitors head to Can Jordi Blues Station, a funny bar on the road to Sant Josep. There is often a BBQ and live music.

So just what is the best travel time to go to Ibiza off-season? If you do not like too crowded in terms of tourists or too hot in terms of temperature, our advice is in May, June or in September, October. Ask the OneVillasIbiza team about homes with heated pools, underfloor heating or fireplaces and come visit us during the winter months. Who knows, maybe you too will spend Christmas in Santa Eularia, as we have in recent years, sitting on a terrace in the sun with a temperature of 20 degrees!
